Requesting Materials

  1. Search via WorldCat Discovery: Start by searching WorldCat Discovery, one of our online catalogs. Discovery allows you to search the holdings of both UBalt Libraries (Law and RLB), all University System of Maryland (USMAI) libraries, and other libraries worldwide

If the Book is Available from a USMAI Library

  1. Request It Yourself: Click on the "Request Item" button in the catalog record under the University System of Maryland Libraries section.
  2. Select Campus Affiliation: Choose "University of Baltimore Law Library."
  3. Enter Credentials: Provide your UBalt network ID and password if prompted.
  4. Select Delivery Library: You'll be prompted to select where you want the book delivered.
  5. Delivery Time: USMAI materials usually arrive at the Law Library within 1-5 business days.
  6. Notification: You'll be notified by email. Full-time faculty will have it delivered to their mailbox or office.

If the Book or Article is Unavailable from USMAI

  1. Request an Interlibrary Loan (ILL): If materials are unavailable from USMAI, you can request them from another library using our online ILL system ILLiad, on our ILL page. Sign in using your UBalt network ID and enter the item's citation information.
  2. Delivery Time:
    1. Physical materials: 2-10 business days, depending on the lending library's location and shipping method.
    2. Delivery Time for Articles: Usually fulfilled electronically and posted to your ILL account within 1-3 days.
  3. Notification: You will receive an email when items are available. Full-time faculty will have books routed to their mailbox or office.
