Welcome to the University of Baltimore Law Library! 

The Law Library provides a variety of services to meet the information needs of the students and faculty of the law school as well as members of the public. Our goal is that you will find the law library a welcoming place with information professionals ready to assist with your research and study. Please take advantage of the services and resources we offer to help you succeed in law school and beyond.

Library Hours

The below hours apply to current UBalt students, staff, and faculty. All other individuals are considered visitors and should visit our Visitor Information page for the most current information and procedures.

Friday 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Sunday Noon - 8 p.m.
Special Service Hours Varies. Call 410-837-4559

Note: Assistance using the law library is available during hours that the Circulation and Information Desk is staffed. Special service hours are in effect during semester breaks, examination periods, and summer sessions. 

Code of Behavior

Mission

The mission of the Law Library is to promote and support the scholarly, research, and curriculum needs of the students and faculty of the UB School of Law and to make available law and law-related resources to the UB community and to the public. All library users must conform to a standard of behavior that maintains an atmosphere of quiet study and research. Behavior that causes a disturbance or interferes with library activities or patrons is not acceptable and may result in sanctions, including being barred from the library.

Behavioral Guidelines

The following are examples of disruptive behaviors that could result in sanctions against the person engaging in such activities:

  • Excessive noise, including cell phone use and extended conversations outside a study room;
  • Threatening, abusive, or obscene language toward any library patron or staff member;
  • Solicitation of any kind, including requests for legal advice from other patrons;
  • Smoking, including use of electronic cigarettes (vaping) within the library;
  • Lack of proper supervision of minors accompanying the user or unaccompanied minors;
  • Use of library facilities for bathing;
  • Being in unauthorized areas of the library, remaining in the library after closing, or when requested to leave;
  • Intoxication.

Sanctions

Sanctions for inappropriate or unacceptable behaviors may include any or all of the following:

  • Being asked to leave library premises
  • Banning from library premises
  • Suspension or loss of library privileges
  • Referral to student or campus disciplinary process
  • Criminal prosecution
