Mental Health & Law School

This guide highlights the importance of mental health hygiene in law school, and it provides links and information about on-campus mental health resources.

On-Campus Resources

Key Points from the UBalt SAP Website:

  • Services and resources at the SAP are free [with some time limitation on the number of sessions available for personal counseling (5)].
  • The SAP can help with a wide range of issues, including situational stressors like grief or adjustment to life transitions. They can also connect you with resources for childcare, elder care, and financial planning.
  • All enrolled students, including law students, as well as faculty and staff, are eligible for a maximum of 5 sessions with the SAP per incident. If you need additional sessions after that, the SAP will provide you with a reference to another doctor local to your location.
  • All services provided by the SAP are confidential and protected in accordance with federal and state laws governing the privacy and confidentiality of educational and health-care information. Nothing is ever shared back to staff or faculty of the University.
  • Note: The SAP currently works with an external partner, BHS, to help provide services. If you call the SAP and are connected to BHS, you are still in the right place.
  • For more information, you may either contact the SAP directly or reach out to the Office of Student Support’s Clinical Case Manager, Tony DuLaney, LCPC at 4108375159. The Clinical Case Manager works to connect students with on campus and off campus resources in an effort to encourage holistic student success. The Clinical Case Manager’s office is located in Academic Center 111.
